today is a fine monday
i was away all weekend visiting the in-laws and receiving a new bedroom set from them. so, by the time we arrived home yesterday and got our new bedroom set up, it was late and i was exhausted. needless to say, i didn't get much planning done for today, so this morning i was in quite a panic. but to my pleasant surprise, i had scheduled a guest speaker for all day long, which took care of my planning. that worked out great, and in the meantime i've been able to get lots of neglected grading done. as if that weren't good enough, the speaker will also be here TOMORROW! my week is off to a great start.
why is it that visiting extended family always leaves me feeling fatigued and somewhat unsettled? J and i have been discussing the possibility of moving away in the near future. i think we're on a 5-year plan. i looked up degree information at UO on their comparative lit doctorate and also at Middlebury Language School. i'm all fired up, and yet i know it's still a bit out of reach at this particular juncture in my, no, our lives. i don't think i've done anything that bad in my life to be sentenced to teaching high school for the rest of my life. who knows; things are always changing.
by the way, the beowulf projects were amazing. the kids really did a good job and put them together nicely, and they were absolutely hilarious. i wish you could have seen them in action. i was proud.
