texas go home
i love summer. i love wearing tank tops and flip flops; i love being outside. i love going for hikes and taking my daughter swimming. what i DO NOT love about this time of year in the san luis valley, however, are the buttloads of texans that invade my home. the two-lane highway that runs all the way across becomes flooded with RVs, and not just one or two that can easily be passed. it is more of a swarm of them, and it is impossible to overtake them so you are forced to travel at 45 mph. the texans are especially thick in south fork, my town; we have an RV park that also has fishing and putt-putt and it covers a large area of space--the locals refer to it in summertime as "little texas."
now, don't get me wrong, i have a handfull of friends living/from texas that are kind, fun people whose company i thoroughly enjoy (albeit a small handfull, but a handfull nonetheless). i would be thrilled if that small handfull accurately represented texas in its entirety; unfortunately, that is not the case. those that choose to set up home here for three or so odd months out of the year are rude, pushy, usually old and slow driving. NOT TO MENTION they tend to be HORRIBLE tippers. in fact, i have been keeping track, and i am owed about $75 or so to make up for the horrible tips i've received. i'm thinking about billing texas.

my dad used to tell me that you couldn't go to fun valley unless you had a white liscence plate.
