the only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centerlight pop and everybody goes 'awww!'

a walk through the plants

one of the things i did while in denver for a week was go with my daughter and sister to the botanical gardens. i'd never been before, and our tickets were free, so it was a treat. soren really enjoyed all the different flowers and lilypads, but my favorite were the hairy balls. yes, the hairy balls. see for yourself.

they are, literally, hairy green balls. you can imagine, my sister and i had a lot of fun with these. they're quite puffy and surprisingly difficult to squeeze, but once you do a white powdery substance comes out. weird. they could have surely come up with a better name.
