dusting off the forgotten

i have recently been having an affair with my old smashing pumpkins albums. can i just say, siamese dream is AND ALWAYS WILL BE one of the best albums ever made. i have imbued into my senses reminisces of listening to this album...the feelings, the smells, the shivers...they all return within seconds of hearing the brilliance of the album. siamese dream defines me at a coming-of-age time in my life--my first experiences with pot, my first real (though brief) boyfriend (he was 17, i was 11--gross, right?), my first pair of doc martins...those were interesting days.
but whatever happened to these guys? let's take a look, shall we?
billy corgan, the brains behind the band. after dissolving the pumpkins, he started a different band, named zwan. they released one album is 2003 entitled
mary star of the sea. his latest work is with the jimmy chamberlin complex, working with, you guessed it, jimmy chamberlin. he has his own site on myspace.
darcy. she's hot. but what happened to her? no one knows. she left the pumpkins after the release of adore in 1998. dig the alternative look, darcy.
james iha. whoever said asian boys are hot? i'm a little confused by this guy. he was amazing in the pumpkins, but his solo album, i'm sorry to say, sucked ass. i ran across it in a little used cd shop, put it in for a listen, and immediately took it out. this was years ago, though, so maybe i'd change my mind now (i am the girl who gave away her first smiths album at the age of 11 because i just didn't get it...now i adore them). the solo album is called let it come down and was released in 1998, around the same time as adore. he was supposed to start a band called the virgins with evan dando (speaking of what the hell happened, WHERE ARE THE LEMONHEADS?!?!), ryan adams (not to be confused with Bryan adams), and melissa auf der maur (from hole, whom i always want to call melissa auf der muff because it sounds better and, well, kinda fits). i guess this band never materialized, though. he's appeared on various albums, and apparently had a brief modelling stint. oh, no, james, not the green pleather, please!
well, there you have it. quite the entourage of musicians, wouldn't you say? now i've done my part and paid tribute. but the eerie question posed by corgan still lingers in my ear: "happiness will make you wonder...will i be ok?" -"hummer"

I used to lie in bed all night, stoned after smoking pot on the back porch, listening to "Siamese Dream." The first time I heard "Hummer" stoned was awesome. That album really changed me.

I know its not from Siamese Dream, but for a year after I got divorced I listened to Love is Suicide every night before I went to bed. Today is my ex-aniversary. That's interesting that you made this post (and what a brilliant post it is).
I heart NYC.
