some people's kids, part deux

well, they've gone and done it agian.

some kid sneakily obtained a copy of my junior grammar final and i caught him using a cheat sheet he'd made while taking the test. he was none too happy to have been caught, but remained cocky about it when he found out he wasn't going to be expelled. a student confided in me that he's been breaking into my room all year, copying my answer keys and what not. i am mostly surprised at the audacity of this kid...i would never have thought of risking breaking into a teacher's room to copy a test! seems like an awful lot of work, especially when you can just do this thing called study! freaking amazing! so i had the joy of spending a couple of days re-writing the test so i could make all my juniors take it again, since there was no way to assure he was the only one who saw a copy of the test. i know, i'm such a jerk.

it will be better when i am teaching kids that actually want to learn. i really need to figure out a way to get started on my doctorate.

    i'd at least publicly humiliate him. you know, read off his essay on the new final, and tell the class why people like him will end up as theives, and how they shouldn't worry so much about their futures with competition like him.

    well, public humiliation wouldn't bother him. like i said, he's being really cocky (a real cock?) about it. the day i announced to the class they would be re-taking the final, he stood up and very sarcastically said, "it was me, i cheated, i was wrong, you can blame me."
    i did remind all my classes after much complaining that they knew both where he lived and what his car looked like. hopefully his classmates will take matters into their own hands. i know i would if i were them!
    ps, ceci n'est pas, he doesn't get to re-take the final. he gets a big, fat zero for a 250 point test!
