the only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centerlight pop and everybody goes 'awww!'

nothing like a busy week to throw me out of my funk

so i've been on the go. a bit more than i would have liked, given my constant fatigued condition, but it's been good.
we took soren to see where the wild things are ballet in denver, which was great. it was absolutely stupendous. the length was a bit short, but that actually worked out good for the audience in the 2-10 year old range (and my sister, who couldn't keep her eyes open). there was, however, a more classical ballet piece to open, which helped make the $60 tickets seem more worthwhile. but soren loved it, was particularly taken by the monsters, and wanted to do some dancing herself afterward.
it was a nice chance to hang out with my mom. we drove up via colorado springs, the way i hate to go (i absolutely avoid the interstate at all costs--i'd rather take my chance with deer than idiots going 100 mph) and stopped to get our photos taken on the way. here's a sample of what we had taken:

precious, eh? it was a good time to spend with my sister, as well. after the ballet we all went out (much to the chagrin of my daughter, who by this point was deleriously tired) to the cheesecake factory for wine, appetizers, and, of course, cheesecake. it was a lot of fun, especially after my mom finished one glass of wine and moved on to her second.
so that all ended thursday. friday i stayed home to spend some time with my husband and we did some work in our garage, trying to get ready for a ginormous garage sale we hope to have before the baby comes.
then saturday it was on the road again--to the ghetto town of albuquerque. i swear, there is always something bad going down in albuquerque. we get the new mexico news (since we pick up our one station with our antennae) and there's always drive-bys and robberies and the like. bad place. but i had a party to do for a friend who also has a daughter soren's age, so a few months ago we decided to make a weekend out of it. of course, a few months ago i didn't know i wouldn't feel like doing that much running around, but it ended up not being too bad. it was nice and warm down there, and the girls had a good time torturing each other, so i suppose it was worth it.
but now i am home and have an almost clean calendar, with the exception of a few parties here and there, and i'm really looking forward to doing not much of anything. i do have some of soren's clothes to sort through, some scrapbooking to catch up on, and some general house cleaning to attend, but none of that requires me to drive 4 hours away or even half that, so it's all good.
