the only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centerlight pop and everybody goes 'awww!'

revision

i would like to revise my previous statement.
i did have a good time while in denver, thanks to jita and my sis.
i was just exhausted by my daughter. she has this new favorite game where she runs away from me and hides. this doesn't bother me usually, except when we're getting ready to leave and she won't come with me, or if we're in a store or a parking lot. particularly the parking lot thing. this is just dangerous, and that's why i get so mad. and in stores, like ginormous malls in cities of millions of people, that kind of freaks me out, too. she'll hide and not answer me when i call, and then i lose it. i seriously had a hard time keeping my cool once or twice. oh, and my other favorite thing she did was when she peed in the car cart at whole foods, only i didn't realize she'd peed in it until we were back in the parking garage at my car, and i wasn't about to walk back up there just to tell them my kid peed in their car. so i hope some other kid didn't sit in it. ugh! but i had to strip her and wipe her down in the parking lot, which made me a not-too-happy mom. i just want her to be potty trained already; i've got her going with the prospect of wearing "pretty panties," which she very much wants to do, but she knows she has a little work to do first.
i took her to the aquarium, which about blew her top. at first it kind of freaked her out, especially the sharks, but then she was into it and wouldn't stop running around. she ended up loving the sharks and talked about them non-stop for the next three days. we also went with aunt katie to see curious george. my daughter likes to interact with the people in the movie, so she was talking to curious george the whole time, and she cried when she thought he died (and repeated over and over again "curious george died, mom" really loudly). thankfully there was only one other family in the theater.
and we went to the children's museum, which is a really great place for kids. again, though, it was like overstimulation and she just ran around like a wild banshee for about two hours. the cool part about all this stuff, though, is that she took 2 hour naps in the afternoon, which allowed me to relax some. but that didn't quite counteract her wake-up time of 5:30 every damn morning.
and i discovered two new cool restaurants, one an argentine pizzaria katie took me to, and another an italian restaurant and bakery with amazing cookies (somewhere in west denver on 44th). and of course i hit up lipgloss, and damnit i know there are other things to do in denver, but i love to dance, and i have so few chances, so when you have a kid and a family and don't make it to the city that often, then you can bitch at me for only wanting to go dancing.
lipgloss was a bit of a disappointment, though, as their music choice has gone downhill slightly, and there was a bit of drama that night, but hey, it wouldn't be a trip to the city without a bit of drama.
all in all, i just don't have the energy i used to. maybe i'll recover after my daughter is no longer a typical two-year-old, maybe not. but i sure was glad to come home to my bed and my husband (not necessarily in that order).

see, a couple glasses of pino and a good night's sleep will do me wonders.
